So Long, Farewell...

All good things must come to an end... and with that comes the "official" and auspicious farewell address – here’s ours. After 8 years and countless hours watching the best and worst movies out there, The Movie Chicks are moving on to other things.

We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve thrown popcorn – then came home and told you all about it. We know we amused ourselves, and hopefully, we entertained you and maybe even informed you about the movies you never even knew you wanted to see.

We’ve made some very important contributions (at least we think they are):

  • We popularized the term codswallop in the US
  • We pointed out eye-candy to fuel Mrs. Robinson fantasies for generations to come
  • We provided Public Service Announcements, Movie Chick Tips, and even handed out a few of our own special awards
  • We made pop quizzes and top 10 lists a fun part of the movie-reviewing experience (heck, we even threw in a few limericks)
  • And finally, we gave our opinions about what’s worth your money (not that you always agreed or even appreciated our take on things… you know who you are).

We’ve enjoyed the interviews with countless celebrities and the marathon film festivals we attended and we’ll miss the wonderful notes we’ve received from our fans (okay, so maybe not the 500 emails we got two hours after we trashed Spider Man 2, but every critic gets criticized now and then).

As we bid our fond farewell, we’re leaving the website up so you can check out our must-see movies and catch up at the theatre or the video store. Last shameless plug… PAY-PAL STILL WORKS! So hey, you can send us a going away gift (click here) or send us your best (extravagant) cash offer to buy the Movie Chicks outright (click here).

Seriously, we want to thank all (or both) of our readers – you’ve been a great audience for us. We’ve enjoyed being part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Film Critics Association and the wider body of really opinionated people who sit in the dark. Big hugs to you all.

Final Movie Chick Note: If there’s a fantastic film out there, look for us at the movies, because you know we won’t be sitting at home doing laundry.
